By using Opening Explorer you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Opening Explorer provides chess opening analytics, a study board, optional repertoire tools, and engine analysis. Features may change. Chess improvement is not guaranteed. Engine evaluations and AI coach notes can be wrong.
You are responsible for the email, password, and linked chess usernames on your account, and for activity under it. You must provide accurate information and not impersonate others. We may suspend or delete accounts that abuse the service (including scraping, attacking the API, or uploading unlawful content).
Positions you analyze are processed by Stockfish on our servers. If you use AI coach, aggregated opening statistics are sent to Anthropic (Claude) to generate notes. You grant us a limited license to process that content solely to provide the feature you requested. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Opening Explorer is not affiliated with chess.com, Lichess, Anthropic, Google, Stripe, or Stockfish developers. Their marks belong to them.
Paid plans are billed by Stripe. Trial length, price, and what Pro unlocks are shown in the app at checkout. You can manage or cancel in Profile → Manage billing when Stripe is configured. Deleting your Opening Explorer account also attempts to cancel an active subscription.
You retain rights in PGN and notes you import. You must only upload content you have the right to use. We may remove content that violates these terms. Account deletion removes stored repertoire and related account data as described in the Privacy Policy.
The service is provided “as is.” We disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and uninterrupted availability to the extent permitted by law. We are not liable for chess results, engine mistakes, third-party outages, or indirect damages. Our total liability for a claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if you paid nothing.
We may update these terms. The date above will change. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
